Organizational matters
SALZBURG: If you have an EU/EEA or Swiss nationality, you don't need a visa. If you are staying in Austria for 3 months or more, you have to register with the relevant municipal authority (Magistrat) in Salzburg within 5 days after your arrival and pay the registration fees of approx. €15 (additional fees may apply). The Magistrat will then issue you your confirmation of registration (Meldezettel).
If you are a national of a »third country,« you will need an entry and residence permit for entry to and residence in Austria. For more information, see the guidelines for residence permits.
NUREMBERG: If you hold citizenship in an EU member state or are you a citizen of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or Switzerland you need to enter the country is a valid personal ID card or passport. After arriving in Germany and securing accommodation, it is necessary to register with the local Residents' Registration Office. If you are going to study in Nuremberg, you will need to apply for a student visa in Germany. After submission, you will be required to pay a student visa application fee. The visa application fee in Germany is approx. €150.

SALZBURG: If you are an EU/EEA national, your European Health Insurance Card is valid in Austria. If you are a national of a »third country,« you can purchase a health insurance policy from the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) (approx. €64 per month) or any other private health insurance provider (QR code below) after your arrival in Salzburg.

European Union students can rely on their European Health Insurance Card to cover healthcare services. Exchange students typically participate in degree programs, granting them the opportunity to qualify for public health insurance and avail themselves of the student discount. The institution will provide support for incoming mobile participants with reduced mobility in accordance with the requirements of the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education.
Campus Nuremberg: Persons in wheelchairs can access the main buildings, with the exception of buildings 9 and 35.

The Online Language Support (OLS) is designed to help Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps participants improve their knowledge of the language in which they will work, study or volunteer abroad so that they can make the most out of this experience.
Taking this assessment in the language of the mobility before departure is a prerequisite for higher education students going on mobility for 14 days or more, to make sure that they meet the recommended level at their receiving organisation.
Participants who wish to improve their language proficiency have the opportunity to follow online language courses before and during their time abroad.
