General Immunology
Students learn about immunity as a state of insensitivity or resistance to a harmful agent or process. This specifically includes resistance to pathogens or infectious diseases. Immunity can occur naturally, develop after prior exposure, or through active or passive immunization. The innate and acquired components of the immune system are discussed in detail.
Specialised Immunology
The lecture series on applied immunology covers the most common immunodeficiencies as well as HIV, tumor immunology, transplant immunology, the diagnosis and treatment of allergies and autoimmunity, and checkpoint inhibitor therapies. In addition, the key strategies for immunosuppression and immunostimulation, as well as vaccination, are discussed.
