Research project management

The PMU's research strategy and corresponding implementation plans are developed based on the university’s mission statement (vision, mission, values, and goals). The role of research management is to ensure a high international standard across all university activities and to provide support for researchers at every stage of their projects.

Service throughout the research process

The project phases are aligned with the research process established by Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU) (>Intranet>Signavio) and the guidelines for third-party funding (currently under development).

Do you have an idea that you would like to turn into a research project and apply for funding through a grant call? We are here to support you—even from the earliest stages of developing your idea!

The Research Management (RM) team at the PMU is happy to assist you by:

  • offering consultations to help you develop and refine your project idea,
  • connecting you with potential project partners, both locally and internationally, and
  • when your project idea is ready, providing a clear overview of current funding opportunities, whether through local, national, or international programs.

Do you have a specific funding opportunity in mind for your project idea? Be sure to inform the Research Management team early to take full advantage of the available services. The RM team will:

  • assess the eligibility of your project for the particular funding call,
  • assist you with the administrative planning of your project (finances, staffing),
  • offer additional services such as proofreading for linguistic accuracy and consistency,
  • ensure your proposal aligns with the funding criteria, including gender aspects.

Please contact us well in advance of the deadline!

Also, remember to enter your project proposal into the PURE Research Information System to ensure up-to-date information and efficient administration of project applications and approved projects.

Is the funding application deadline fast approaching? The Research Management team is here to support you with:

  • final steps such as obtaining necessary signatures and letters of support,
  • reviewing the budget,
  • if requested, entering the application into PMU's research database.

The earlier you reach out to the Research Management team, the better. To ensure we can provide our services reliably, please contact us at least two weeks before the deadline!

Has your application been positively reviewed and approved for funding? Congratulations!

The first step is usually to establish a funding contract with the granting agency. In many cases, this will be a standard agreement. However, it’s possible that

  • further negotiation rounds may be required,
  • additional information may be requested from you or your project partners,
  • agreements on result exploitation, consortium- or cooperation contracts may be necessary.

PMU’s Legal Department is available to support you during this phase. The initial contact can also be made through the Research Management team. Additionally, the RM team is happy to advise you on other important steps to ensure a successful project start!

Is your research project ready to launch? To help you focus on the core research activities, the Research Management team, in coordination with relevant PMU departments, supports you and your team with project management and monitoring:

  • documentation and communication throughout the project,
  • identifying suitable tools for seamless team collaboration,
  • reporting and project controlling to keep track of progress, resource usage, and reporting obligations.

To stay up-to-date, the RM team requires the most current project data entered into the PURE Research Information System.

The PMU University Library is happy to assist you with all matters related to publishing your research results, such as supporting your Open Access publications. For additional guidance and tips on documenting and publishing your research achievements, the Research Management team is at your service.

The ‘Innovation, Knowledge, and Technology Transfer’ (TT) department serves as the central hub for health innovations benefiting people. Together with the legal department, TT supports you with all matters concerning service inventions and patents, spin-offs, and the exploitation of your research results.
