Application information

Online application form

Complete the online application form aus (available only during the application period).

The online application form collects personal data, including various statistical details and your preferred study location. You can choose from the following study locations:

  • Salzburg
  • Nuremberg
  • No location preference: By selecting this option, you agree that your study location will be assigned randomly by PMU (for more information, see the admissions process).
     

Important notes:

  • Ensure you provide a valid email address, as communication with applicants will primarily occur via email.
  • Once admitted, changing your study location is not possible due to the limited number of places (80 in Salzburg and 55 in Nuremberg).

Application documents

  • CV (tabular form) with a scanned photo
  • Motivation letter
  • Application photo
  • Certificate of general university entrance qualification (or the university entrance examination for medicine); transcripts from the last two completed school years (exception: for German Abitur, only the final certificate is needed)
  • All certificates/proofs of additional education/training
  • Proof of at least four weeks of professional field exploration (internship/volunteering)

To demonstrate a thoughtful consideration of your career choice, confirmation of a professional field exploration is required. This exploration is a criterion for the admission process and must be completed before the start of studies. The four-week exploration can be split into parts. If you have not yet completed the professional field exploration, please include a confirmation of your internship commitment.

The internship must be completed before the start of studies (September 2, 2024).

You can complete this internship/professional field exploration/volunteering at one of the following institutions:

  • Hospital
  • Nursing home
  • Retirement home
  • Emergency medical technician (practical training must be completed before the start of studies)
  • Regular service with the Red Cross, Samaritan Federation, or White Cross South Tyrol
  • Civil service (if there was direct patient contact)
  • Voluntary social year (if patient contact was involved)
  • Internships completed during other education programs (e.g., physiotherapy or nursing) in hospitals or clinics
  • Volunteering in a medical practice (specialist, general practitioner, or dentist)

 

Important Notes:

  • Certificates issued with a grading system other than 1 to 5 or the German point system (15 to 0) must include a conversion to the Austrian grading system. (For more information on grade conversion, refer to the guidelines.)
  • Certificates not issued in German or English must be accompanied by a certified translation.
  • You can update your application documents (e.g. additional certificates) at a later date (via the applicant portal under "Documents").

 

Application fee

A fee is required for the application process.

After successfully submitting your application (completing the online form and uploading the required documents), you will gain access to the applicant's portal, where you can download the invoice for the application fee.

  • The application fee is € 290.
  • Please transfer the application fee only after completing your registration via the online form, making sure to include the invoice number provided.
  • The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Only correct and timely payments will be accepted. 

 

 

Access to the admissions test

After the correct and complete submission of your application in accordance with steps 1 to 3, and upon review of your documents, you will be granted access to the admission test, which will take place in Salzburg for both study locations.
