Advanced Nursing Practice
Profile

Since April 2018, the Institute for Nursing Science and Practice has offered the Master's program in Advanced Nursing Practice. This program combines online and in-person learning, designed to be completed alongside your career. Participation is limited to 25 students.

Competence, methodological confidence, and integration of theory with practice

The Advanced Nursing Practice program aims to train highly competentandmethodologically skilled nursing professionals at the master's level, equipping them to meet the growing demands of modern nursing practice. Graduates will actively shape the future of the field as Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs). The curriculum emphasizes not only scientific knowledge and up-to-date nursing practices but also critical thinking, self-directed learning, and the integration of theory into real-world practice. This ensures the translation of academic knowledge into high-quality patient care.

The program provides specialized, in-depth nursing expertise that extends beyond basic patient care. It focuses on specific healthcare settings, preparing ANPs to work in interdisciplinary teams, apply theory-based knowledge in practical situations, and bridge the gap between nursing research and clinical practice. Additionally, students are equipped to take on more responsibilities, with ANPs expected to take over tasks traditionally handled by physicians, including playing key roles in case management and at important intersections of patient care.

This new scope of practice requires comprehensive university-level education to ensure professional competence.

Acute Care, Chronic Care

In the master’s program, students enhance their nursing competencies in managing acute and chronic conditions. Each specialization focuses on specific illnesses and the corresponding nursing skills required for effective care. Students also develop strong scientific research abilities and gain proficiency in interpreting and applying academic literature.

In the Acute Care specialization, students delve deeper into the pathology of selected acute illnesses and learn how to care for patients with acute conditions. Major themes include organizing nursing and medical interventions during emergencies, as well as managing stress and crisis situations.

In the Chronic Care specialization, students focus in depth on the pathology of selected chronic diseases, examining what it means to live with a chronic condition, the nursing measures that support these patients, and ways to prevent health risks.
