Biomedical Data Science
Guiding principles and cooperation process
Guiding principles
Our guiding principle is not to focus on abstract, "detached" questions, but to collaborate with you on research problems that require deeper methodological consideration and have a direct connection to your clinical (research) practice. Accordingly, application-oriented methodological projects with Paracelsus Medical Private University (PMU) Salzburg and the University Hospital Salzburg are promoted and intensified through the activities of the Biomedical Data Science research program. At the same time, we aim to establish new collaborations at both the national and international levels.
For us, personal conversations are key. Based on our experience, any uncertainties, questions, individual goals, and specific forms of collaboration are best addressed through open, joint discussions. That’s why we’ve made contacting us as straightforward as possible—the few points you should consider are summarized below. We look forward to connecting with you!
Cooperation process
Initial Consultation
The goal of the initial meeting is to get to know your research field, particularly in relation to questions in areas such as statistics, data science, AI, and more. This initial consultation is free of charge! The objective is to establish a foundation for a joint decision on whether and, if so, in what form further collaboration would be beneficial. To help us prepare for the meeting, we kindly ask you to fill out the short form below and send it via email to Georg Zimmermann(georg.zimmermann@pmu.ac.at) and Martin Geroldinger (martin.geroldinger@pmu.ac.at) zu senden: Contact form
Collaboration Concept
Ideally, after the initial meeting, we will determine that a collaboration is a good fit. If so, we will work together to outline the next steps and identify the specific areas where you will need support from the research program. Based on this framework, we’ll collaboratively develop a financing plan, which may include joint research proposals or leveraging resources from your institution. The collaboration possibilities are wide-ranging, both in scope and organization, making personal exchange crucial during this planning phase to ensure everything aligns smoothly.
Implementation
We have agreed on the specifics of the collaboration and now the joint research work can begin! Throughout this phase, we will maintain close communication with you, keeping the predefined goals and timelines in mind. The aim is to generate results that are valuable both for your application-oriented clinical research and for us from a methodological perspective.
