Gender Equality Plan

Gender equality is a key societal challenge of our time. It is evident on a global scale and affects both public and private sectors in aspects such as income, employment opportunities, caregiving responsibilities, and access to education.
The United Nations has established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address the world's most urgent challenges, with Goal 5 specifically targeting "Gender Equality." For underrepresented and marginalized groups, freedom from discrimination is not only a fundamental human right but also essential for advancing and achieving sustainable development.
The Paracelsus Medical University (PMU) is fully committed to the principle of gender equality and the empowerment of women, recognizing it as a responsibility that affects all areas and levels of the university. This commitment is seen as an integral mission for all members of the university. The dedication to gender equality stems from the university's broader responsibility to build a fairer society by contributing to and responding to the challenges of today's world. As an institution that imparts both values and knowledge, PMU is committed to integrating gender perspectives into all organizational, teaching, research, and transfer processes that shape daily life at the university and its affiliated institutions. Guided by its core values of responsibility, trust, respect, professionalism, and entrepreneurship, the university places particular emphasis on the following topics in the pursuit of gender equality and women's empowerment:
- Work-life balance and organizational culture
- Gender balance in leadership and decision-making roles
- Gender equality in recruitment and career advancement
- Integration of gender perspectives in teaching
- Integration of gender dimensions in research content
- Gender-based violence, including sexual harassment
Furthermore, all university policies and actions are assessed according to the principles of gender mainstreaming to ensure their alignment with the goal of gender equality.
